A Long Wrap

Yes, I like to wrap things. Both on top and on bottom. And, as in this case, all the way.

This dress was pracically finished in 2008 I think. In December if I remember correctly. I used the Desira pattern and elongated it into a dress and added sleeves.

Feeling 70s

A bit blurry picture I see now.

I think I could have gotten the bottom edge straight, but I don’t really mind the uneveness. The fabric is a cotton popln; navy blu with yellow suns, and the belt is a plain cotton. Two sets of snaps are also used to hold the dress together.

Bow on the side

For some reason  this dress feels like a cleaning coat. I like it and I like to wear so I don’t know why I can’t shake that feeling. I mean wrap dresses are the ultimate dresses, dressy yet casual. It will be worn, I swear. I will shake my cleaning coat feeling.

Project summary

Pattern: Burdastyle 7911, Desira
Difficulty:
Novice (Burdastyle’s rating – I agree)
Alterations:
Elongated into a dress. Cap sleeves replaced with 3/4 length sleeves.

Fabric: Cotton poplin for dress, plain cotton for belt.
Notions: Snaps.

Project rating: The drawback of the dress is that a lot of fabric is required. Other than that wrap dress are flattering, they create a lovely silhouette on almost anyone – including me! The fabric is nice and soft, I’m pleased with that selection.
